Welcome back to another edition of the B-School Buzz! We’ve added two new bloggers to our Buzz network this week, and whether it’s GMAT advice, recession-triggered doubts, or thoughts on pursuing a joint degree, everyone has some choice nuggets to share.

Celebrating a 770 — This week we welcome our newest buzz blogger, The Phoenix. He’s now done with the first phase of the MBA roller coaster, as his blog is aptly called, and provides a detailed recap of his experience with the GMAT. As someone who walked away with Q51 and V44, you may want to check out the key takeaways for testing success with which he closes the post.

Is now the time to go to b-school? — It’s been a tough week for the markets around the globe, which has Rollipolli questioning whether now is the time to apply to business school after all. Is an MBA the right move if a recession is forthcoming, he asks, especially when one has personal and family commitments to honor? We agree with the comment left by another Buzz blogger, Pyarapopat: Apply! the debate will have much more meaning once you’re accepted. Remember, you can cross that bridge when you come to it.

Weighing the joint-degree option –Speaking from the point of view of a Harvard J.D./MBA, Kurt’s entry on the Military to Business blog looks at the pros and cons of pursuing a second (joint) degree at a top b-school. His cost-benefit analysis, and thoughts on whether the degree will truly boost your employment opportunities, is a can’t-miss.

Pointers for the Indian School of BusinessGMAT Yatra shared some great insight from the ISB information session he recently attended. From what the admissions officials are looking for in candidates, ISB’s alternatives to a summer internship, to essay tips, GMAT Yatra shares pertinent information for anyone considering this highly-ranked program.
