WSJ Names Top Accelerated MBA Programs

What do you do if you need an MBA to boost your career but can’t afford time out of the workplace? Continuing the theme from Wednesday’s post, One Year or Two?, Wall Street Journal ran an article this week on the top MBA programs if you’re in a hurry.

Accelerated MBA programs take between 10 and 15 months to complete and have been the norm in Europe for decades. Case in point: the INSEAD MBA celebrated 50 years on September 12. Like the Financial Times states, these programs aren’t as common here in the U.S., but that may change as older students struggle with the idea of spending two years out of the work force.

If you’re looking to learn everything you need in a shorter time span, here’s Wall Street Journal’s Top Ten List of accelerated business programs. The ranking is based on how the programs fared in surveys of students and alumni, including how they were rated in skills and leadership enhancement and alumni impact.

  1. IE Business School (Madrid)
  2. IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland)
  3. Cranfield School of Management (Bedford, England)
  4. Northwestern Univ. (Kellogg) (Evanston, IL)
  5. Babson College (Olin) (Babson Park, Mass.)
  6. ESADE (Barcelona)
  7. INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France)
  8. IAE (Buenos Aires)
  9. Miami (OH) Univ. (Farmer) (Oxford, Ohio)
  10. Emory University (Goizueta) (Atlanta)
