Columbia Launches Three-Year JD/MBA Program

Columbia Business School and Columbia Law School have partnered to create the Columbia Three-Year JD/MBA Program, the schools announced Wednesday. Accepting its first class in the fall of 2011, this accelerated course of study gives select students the opportunity to earn degrees from both schools in just three years.

Students will spend their first and third years in residence at Columbia Law School and their second year in residence at Columbia Business School. Participants will complete core requirements at each school and enroll in electives cross-listed at both.

In addition, students will have the chance to take specialized electives only listed at a single school. As full members of both the Law School and Business School communities, students in the three-year program will have the ability to take advantage of academic, networking, and career opportunities in both realms.

The existing JD/MBA dual-degree option, which is completed over four years, will remain in place for students interested in a broader course curriculum and for whom the desire to enter the workforce one year sooner is not a significant factor.

The deadline for applications to the inaugural Columbia Three-Year JD/MBA Program class will be due February 15, 2011. As with all dual-degree programs, students must apply separately to each school.
