Executive Development Courses Launching at Georgetown McDonough

This fall, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will offer executive development courses designed to enhance specific business skills of executives across industries. According to a statement released by the school, these sessions will provide an in-depth analysis of specific business topics and challenges relevant to today’s managers and senior executives.

These intensive, three-day courses are structured for individual working executives to advance their careers, as well as their performance and impact for their organizations in a format that is compatible with their challenging schedules. Participants will hear classroom lectures, study and discuss relevant material and issues, discuss case studies, and focus on practical solutions.

“As business globalizes and changes, executives who are able to adapt and grow their organizations will find success ”“ this is why we design courses to help executives meet both today’s and tomorrow’s business challenges,” says Paul Almeida, senior associate dean for executive education at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.

“From finance to strategy to leadership, our Executive Development courses offer participants context, guide them through new concepts, provide them with the necessary tools and techniques, and help them achieve the mindset and approach needed to tackle an increasingly complex business world.”

The inaugural Executive Development course, Global Engagement ”“ Strategies to Address Non-Market Forces, will be offered November 30 to December 2, 2011, and is designed for mid- and senior-level managers responsible for formulating their organization’s business, commercial, consumer, and investment strategies.

This course will survey the non-market issues and best practices employed by multinational firms to support their market strategies and shape their competitive playing fields. It covers strategies for addressing the political, regulatory, legal, and public-perception realities in a company’s target markets, transforming what can be perceived as barriers to the foundations for strategic competitive advantage.

Georgetown will offer Embracing Change ”“ Leading Organizations in Turbulent Times from February 27-29, 2012. This course is designed to equip managers with the knowledge necessary to move their organizations forward in times of uncertainty, change, and transition.

Embracing Change covers designing and successfully implementing organizational strategies for turbulent times; helping workforces to embrace the need for change; tools for encouraging and reinforcing change efforts; building and maintaining a high-performance culture in demanding times; conveying the change message to employees; and creating passion and excitement for change through the power of “storytelling.”

Additional courses in the areas of climate change, brand advantage, corporate responsibility, and finance for non-financial managers also are being planned for 2012.
