Kellogg to Launch Cross-Disciplinary AI Courses for MBAs This Fall

Kellogg School of Management

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way companies operate, compete, and expand. To keep pace, Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management is revamping its MBA curriculum to prepare students for leadership in a world powered by AI.

This fall, Kellogg will introduce a new slate of courses that immerse students in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The flagship course, AI Foundations for Managers, takes a fresh, multidisciplinary approach. Faculty from five departments—marketing, strategy, operations, finance, and management—will each teach their version of the course, allowing students to explore AI through the lens most relevant to their goals.

Instead of approaching AI as a purely technical topic, Kellogg’s new curriculum emphasizes strategic thinking, ethical frameworks, and real-world business applications. Students will dive into five core areas: AI fundamentals, machine learning, generative tools, ethics and governance, and industry-specific use cases. Whether they want to explore how AI is transforming consumer behavior or driving smarter operations, students will find coursework that aligns with their interests.

For those ready to take it further, Kellogg also plans to expand its advanced electives. Courses such as Human and Machine IntelligenceArtificial Intelligence and the Future of Work, and Applied Advanced Analytics will provide deeper insights into how AI intersects with organizational dynamics and workforce trends. Faculty are currently updating these popular electives with fresh content to reflect the latest developments in the field.

Both full-time and evening and weekend MBA students will have access to the new courses, which cater to a range of schedules. Over time, Kellogg plans to expand the AI Foundations course to all of its degree programs.

By embedding AI into the core MBA experience—not just as a tech skill but as a leadership imperative—Kellogg is equipping students to lead thoughtfully in an increasingly data-driven world.
