School Profile: Kellogg JD – MBA program
On April 20 we discussed the new joint degree program between HBS and the Kennedy school as well as other business-policy programs at Tuck, Columbia, Haas, and Darden. Days later Wharton announced their own dual degree program with the Kennedy school.
Students interested in policy may also be considering a joint business and law degree. In which case, Kellogg and Northwestern offer an integrated JD-MBA. This multidisciplinary program is an accelerated course of study allowing students to complete both degrees in three years. To do a business and law degree separately would normally take five years. In the Kellogg-Northwestern program, students spend the first year at the Law school, the second year at Kellogg, and the third year at both schools. It is an extraordinary opportunity for students looking to complete both degrees.
Of course, other schools offer joint programs with law schools. Stanford, for example, has a joint JD/MBA which students can complete in four years.
If you are considering a joint degree, be sure to look into the specifics of each school including the application process. Typically you must fill out separate applications for each program.
