Yale’s New MBA/MS Program

MBA/MS program

The Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science have partnered to offer an exciting new joint-degree program. This MBA/MS program allows students to earn both degrees in just two years, thereby saving a year compared to completing the programs separately.

Here’s how the program works: In the first year, students complete Yale SOM’s integrated core curriculum, providing a strong management and leadership foundation. Then, in the second year, they fulfill the MS requirements and specialize in a technical field offered by Yale Engineering, such as biomedical engineering or computer science.

This program is especially suited for individuals who aim to combine technical expertise with strategic management skills. Moreover, it prepares graduates for impactful careers at the intersection of technology and business.

According to Yale SOM Dean Kerwin K. Charles, the MBA/MS program responds to the increasing importance of technology in business. “Many of today’s challenges are shaped by this interplay,” he says. “Through this program, our students will gain technical mastery while benefiting from SOM’s integrated curriculum, which emphasizes the societal responsibilities of leadership.”

In addition, participants in the program will have access to the complete resources of both schools. These include career services, professional advising, alumni networks, and student clubs, ensuring they are well-supported throughout their journey.

Jeffrey F. Brock, dean of Yale Engineering, further highlights the interdisciplinary strengths of the program. “This is ideal for students seeking expertise in both technology and management,” he notes. “With top-tier faculty, motivated peers, and an interdisciplinary approach, graduates will be ready to lead in shaping the future.”

The new MBA/MS program also adds to Yale’s growing list of joint-degree offerings, which already includes a one-year Master’s in Technology Management for Yale College engineering and technical graduates.

Interested students must apply and gain admittance to both programs independently. For additional information on admissions, visit the Yale SOM website.
