New Concentrations at Cornell

The Johnson School at Cornell University recently announced the launch of a series of concentrations for second-year residential MBA students aimed at providing  depth and/or breadth to students’ experience, as well as personal marketability and improved positioning in the employment market.

Breadth concentrations, the school says, are designed to provide breadth in a student’s curriculum, while depth concentrations provide a student the opportunity to gain depth and tangible skills in a particular functional area.

“We recognized this addition as a vital way for us to build on our tradition of a flexible and strong performance-learning curriculum,” said dean Joe Thomas in a statement announcing the news.

“While focusing their study has always been an option, enabling students to utilize a formal framework that is recognized by the school will allow for more structure and an additional way for them to describe their expertise as they enter and move throughout the job market.”
