Carey Business School Dean Steps Down

Yash P. Gupta, dean of the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, will step down from the role at the end of the current academic year in June to become chief executive officer of Canada-based SDP Telecom Inc. Gupta was the first dean of the Carey Business School, which was established in 2007.

President Ronald J. Daniels sent a broadcast email message today to faculty and staff members at The Johns Hopkins University. He credits Gupta with several impressive acheivements, including establishing the university’s first MBA program designed for full-time students.

The Carey School, says Daniels, is now poised to enter the next phase of its history, one of focused growth and development. A national search for a new dean will soon commence, but until then, executive Vice Dean Phillip Phan will serve as interim dean of the Carey Business School effective July 1, 2011.
