Kellogg Names Sally Blount New Dean

The search to replace dean Dipak Jain of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management is finally over: The school announced today that it has appointed Sally Blount as dean of the school, effective in July.

Blount, 48, comes to Kellogg via New York University, where she has been dean of NYU’s undergraduate college and vice-dean of its Stern School of Business.

The new dean is an expert in the fields of negotiation and behavioral decision making and has extensive international experience in higher education, according to a statement announcing the news.

Blount received her Ph.D. in management and organizations from Kellogg in 1992 after earning a joint bachelor’s degree from Princeton University’s engineering and Woodrow Wilson schools in 1983.

“It is a great honor to be appointed to lead Kellogg,” Blount says. “The school has meant so much to me professionally and personally. I am eager to work with our outstanding faculty, students, alumni, administrators, supporters, corporate stakeholders and global partners to keep Kellogg pushing the frontiers of global business education forward.”
