More Female MBAs Than Ever at Wharton

The Daily Pennsylvanian ran an intriguing article Thursday revealing that the number of female MBA students at The Wharton School has steadily risen over the past few years, to reach an unprecedented 40% of this year’s incoming class.

According to the piece, this figure is all the more meaningful when compared to other top B-schools; Harvard Business School‘s class of 2011 is 37% female, while the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business is 35% and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management is 33%.

J.J. Cutler, Wharton’s Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid, explains in the article that the school has made a concerted effort to attract a diverse class, including holding admissions presentations around the country specifically targeted at women and developing a relationship with undergraduate organizations like Wharton Women and Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business.
