First-year leadership roles at CBS — Praz took a moment this week to reflect on the many leadership opportunities he took advantage of during his first year at Columbia Business School. Feeling as though he’s finally getting in the swing of things, Praz wonders how someone doing a one-year MBA manages to do it all. One important recommendation he makes for incoming students: develop relationships with second-years during the first semester.
Home is where the heart is— While he is enjoying his stay in NYC as it provides a break from India’s summer temps of 115 degrees, KT is starting to feel that his USA fascination has evaporated. Despite the great aspects of the American lifestyle, he says that with his family and friends in India, his heart never travels to the US with him. Therefore, this year’s application season will see KT refocus on India’s top B-schools instead.
Must-read MBA blogs — Forget the admissions brochures, says Bhaskar Anand of SAS Student Zone. In this post, he shares a list of illuminating blogs written by current B-school students Bhaskar says will show applicants what business school is really like. The list features fellow Buzz blogger Military to Business‘s blog, which he says provides information you may not find anywhere else.
System glitch at UCLA Anderson — Mark Wong of Random Wok shares the news that UCLA MBA admits never received links to get their SIR (Statement of Intent to Register) and SLR (Statement of Legal Residency). If you’re in the same boat and have gotten frustrated after calling both the MBA Admissions and the Graduate Division offices, and neither can give you a definite answer, check out his post and follow the steps he outlines for a relatively simple fix.
