B-Schooled Podcast Episode #264: Overcoming MBA Anxiety With an HBS AdCom, Part 3

B-Schooled on MBA anxiety
Three Meditations For Your MBA Application Journey

For the final episode of this special three-part B-Schooled series on MBA anxiety, we’re joined once again by SBC Consultant Pauline, a Wharton MBA and former associate director of admissions at Harvard Business School. She served on the HBS MBA Admissions Board full-time for four years and has also presented and lectured at Stanford, Tufts, and Villanova.

In addition to her admissions expertise, Pauline brings a background in divinity and pastoral counseling, having served as a Level 1 hospital trauma chaplain. She later earned a doctorate in educational leadership, blending her passion for business, education, and spirituality into a perspective that’s both rigorous and deeply human.

In episode one of this series, we explored what MBA anxiety is, its origins, and strategies for managing it in the moment. In our second episode, we dug deeper and talked about how you can HARNESS this worry and anxiety in healthy and productive ways to IMPROVE your application.

Today’s episode covers how meditation can help you release worry and anxiety as well as tap into deeper parts of your own lived experiences. In this podcast, Pauline talks about how meditation can be helpful to anyone during times of worry and anxiety (or anytime, really). Chandler and Pauline also share specific suggestions about how meditation can be a valuable aspect of your MBA application journey.

In addition, Pauline walks our listeners through three meditations centered explicitly around the MBA application process, where she focuses on:

  • Getting into a positive state of mind
  • Using mantras in meditation
  • Instructions for a breathing exercise

Pauline shares how her clients have used meditation in their applications and offers suggestions for other free online meditation resources our listeners might find interesting.

Chandler and the entire SBC team would like to thank Pauline for this very special three-part series—a must for anyone facing worry or anxiety as a part of their MBA journey. Additional gratitude to Tiana McCaskill for composing and recording the special music for these meditations.
